Coaches with a Driver for Company Events
A company event usually means one big arrival, a few short shuttles and a late return. The coach is the easy part. The real work is finding out where each venue lets a coach stop.
Venues say little about coaches
Swiss congress venues publish plenty about trams and little about coaches. The Kongresshaus Zürich lists no coach parking of its own, and the SwissTech Convention Center at EPFL lists no coach drop-off. Palexpo, beside Geneva Airport, sets guests down at its main entrances only on request, and its car park P12 is too low for a coach.
Messe Basel is the exception. Coach parking for exhibition visitors is reserved online, exhibition by exhibition, with the number plate. Space is short, so reserve as soon as the coach is confirmed. For every other venue, the partner operator agrees the stop with the venue before the day.

Write the day as a list of legs
Hotel to venue, venue to dinner, dinner back to the hotels. Put a time and a head count on each leg. The quote then shows whether one coach covers it all or a second vehicle saves waiting.
A late finish is no problem in law. The Swiss Sunday and night driving ban is aimed at goods traffic and does not cover vehicles carrying passengers. A shuttle at 23:00 or on a Sunday morning is allowed.
Rules worth knowing before you book
- Palexpo in Genève is a ten-minute walk from Genève Aéroport and its railway station; drop-off zones are available at the main entrances on request, and car park P12 (1,500 spaces, height limit 2 m) cannot be reserved
- The Congress Center Basel, part of Messe Basel, is the largest convention centre in Switzerland, with 25 conference rooms and a plenary hall for up to 3,000 people
- Coach drivers follow ARV 1: at most 9 hours of driving a day (10 hours twice a week) and a 45-minute break after 4.5 hours (Art. 5 and 8 ARV 1)
Long days and Davos
A coach driver may drive 9 hours a day, 10 hours twice a week, and takes 45 minutes off after 4.5 hours at the wheel. Waiting is not driving, but a day that opens with an airport run and closes with a gala dinner can reach the limit. The operator then plans a second driver for the evening.
Plan Davos earliest. The Congress Centre holds up to 5,000 people, and Davos tourism lists the World Economic Forum for 18 to 22 January 2027. Coaches may park in Davos only at set places with a parking card, so leave the parking to the operator.
What organisers ask us
Can the coach wait outside the venue all day?
Rarely. Most city venues have no coach parking. The coach sets down, leaves for a coach park and returns at an agreed time or when called.
Do the speakers need their own vehicle?
Often, yes. An executive car with a chauffeur carries up to 8 passengers and leaves when the speakers are ready, while the coach keeps to the guests' timetable.
Can guests from Germany or France use the same coach?
Yes, for the trip across the border and back. A coach from an EU operator may not carry passengers between two places inside Switzerland, so the shuttles during the event need a Swiss-based vehicle.
