Coach Hire Across Switzerland

Coach Hire for Teams, Clubs and Supporters

A team bus has a fixed kick-off and a squad's worth of kit. The club secretary needs to know which vehicle fits, how many days one driver can cover, and where the coach can wait at the ground.

Squad size decides vehicle and licence

Up to 16 passengers fit a minibus driven on a D1 licence. Above 16, the driver needs a full category D licence. Both hold the CZV certificate of professional competence. A youth team with staff and kit often fills a midi-coach; a first team travelling with supporters takes a full-size coach.

Minibuses up to 3.5 t carry the motorway vignette. Heavier minibuses and coaches pay the PSVA heavy vehicle fee instead. Seat belts, where fitted, are worn for the whole journey.

Tournaments and the weekly limit

A coach driver may drive at most 56 hours in a week and 90 hours across two weeks. A weekend tournament rarely comes close. A training camp with daily transfers can, so list every planned drive in the request.

Rules worth knowing before you book

  • Category D covers passenger vehicles with more than eight seats besides the driver; D1 covers more than eight and up to 16 seats (Art. 3 VZV)
  • Coaches and minibuses over 3.5 t pay the flat-rate heavy vehicle fee (PSVA); minibuses up to 3.5 t need the motorway vignette (Art. 4 Abs. 2 SVAG; Art. 3 NSAG)

Parking at the ground

Few Swiss stadiums publish coach parking. Stadion Letzigrund in Zürich has four coach bays on Baslerstrasse. At the Berit Sitterstadion in St. Gallen, coaches get standing places on match days after registering with the club in advance. For an HC Davos game, coaches and minibuses must sign up online with the club at least 48 hours ahead. Elsewhere, the operator checks the arrangement with the club.

For the Lauberhorn races in Wengen, 15 to 17 January 2027, the coach goes no further than Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald Terminal. Wengen is car-free, so teams and fans finish the trip by train or cableway.

What organisers ask us

Can bikes and large kit travel with the team?

Kit bags fit the underfloor holds of a coach. For bikes, boats or other bulky equipment, say so in the request so the operator can check the space before quoting.

Can one coach stay with us for a whole tournament?

Yes, within the driver's daily and weekly limits. Give the hotel and the venues, so the operator can plan the drives and the breaks.

Is a minibus enough for a small squad?

For up to 16 passengers, yes. A squad of 14 with two staff fills it, though kit for 16 people leaves little room at the back.
