Coach Hire for Lake Geneva Boat Groups
Geneva's lake boats leave from four piers on both sides of the harbour. None of them has a published coach stop. So pick the pier first and fix the stop well before the day.
Four piers, two banks
On the right bank you have Mont-Blanc, the main pier, which sells boat and train tickets and has tourist information, and Pâquis. On the left bank lie Jardin Anglais, with its own ticket counter, and Eaux-Vives.
For a coach the two banks are not interchangeable. Book the pier that matches the boat and, where you can, the side of the lake where the group is staying. Cornavin station is only about 1 km from the Mont-Blanc pier by road.

No published coach stop
The car parks listed near the piers are built for cars. The boat company publishes no coach parking and no set-down point, and the city keeps no list of coach parking places. The operator fixes the stop in advance and tells the group leader where to walk.
Carry a Stick'AIR or a French Crit'Air sticker. On smog days the canton can limit traffic in most of the city to vehicles that show one.
From the boat to the coach
- Genève-Cornavin station is about 1 km by road from the Mont-Blanc pier; the CGN lists the public-transport stop Mont-Blanc (lines 6, 8, 9, 25, E+ and G+) for the Mont-Blanc pier and Métropole for the Jardin Anglais.
- The car parks the CGN lists near the piers (Mont-Blanc, Alpes, Rive-Centre, Fairmont Grand-Hôtel) are for cars; the CGN publishes no coach parking or coach set-down point at the Geneva piers, so the operator confirms where the coach stops.
- Routed from the Mont-Blanc pier: Genève Aéroport about 5 km (about 10 min), EuroAirport about 260 km (about 3 h 05 min) and Zürich Airport about 282 km (about 3 h 10 min) in light traffic.
- Lausanne-Ouchy (Quai Jean-Pascal Delamuraz 1) and Montreux (Place de l'Eurovision) are the CGN piers for Lausanne and Montreux.
Airports for this pier
- Geneva Airport (GVA) — about 5-6 km, about 10 min in light traffic
- EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL) — about 260 km, about 3 h 05 min in light traffic
- Zurich Airport (ZRH) — about 282 km, about 3 h 10 min in light traffic
From the airport to the water
Genève Aéroport is about 5 to 6 km away, roughly 10 minutes in light traffic. Coaches collect arriving groups only at P6, the coach station on the arrivals level, so a group can land, board there and be at a pier soon after.
From elsewhere the drive is long: about 260 km from EuroAirport and about 282 km from Zürich Airport, three hours or more each way. A coach driver may drive at most 9 hours a day, with a 45-minute break after 4.5 hours, so a same-day return needs careful timing.
One way by boat
The same boats serve Lausanne-Ouchy and Montreux. A group can sail one way and ride back. The coach then drives to the far pier alone and meets the boat there, so send us the sailing times.
What organisers ask us
Where exactly will the coach stop?
At a point the operator agrees before the day. Geneva has no official coach stop at the piers, so the meeting point comes with the booking confirmation.
Can we use public transport between the station and a pier?
Yes. The Mont-Blanc stop serves the Mont-Blanc pier and the Métropole stop serves the Jardin Anglais.
Can a French coach run a lake day for us?
It can bring a group in from France and take it back. A day that starts and ends in Switzerland is different: it is domestic carriage, which EU-based operators may not do, so we book a coach based in Switzerland.
