Lauberhorn Races in Wengen: Where the Coach Stops
Wengen hosts the International Lauberhorn Races on 15, 16 and 17 January 2027: super-G on Friday, downhill on Saturday, slalom on Sunday. Wengen is car-free. No coach reaches it, so the coach part of the day ends at a valley station.
Three places to leave the coach
Interlaken Ost is the simplest. Every race ticket includes the train from there, so the group walks from the coach to the platform. Coaches may set down at the marked transit stop for five minutes at most, then go to an official coach park.
Lauterbrunnen is closer, about 13 km and 15 minutes from Interlaken Ost. The coach sets down at the multi-storey car park below the station or at the church car park, and the Wengernalp Railway takes the group up. Grindelwald Terminal, about 20 km and 25 minutes from Interlaken Ost, connects by the Männlichen cableway.

From Wengen to the finish
The finish area is in Innerwengen, about 20 minutes on foot from Wengen station. For spectators heading to Wengernalp, the organisers give a route from Grindelwald Terminal via Eigergletscher and Kleine Scheidegg. Build the walk and the changes into the timing.
When and where
- 15-17 January 2027: super-G on Friday 15 January, downhill on Saturday 16 January, slalom on Sunday 17 January; downhill training on 12-14 January 2027
- Lauberhorn, Wengen (Lauterbrunnen valley, Bernese Oberland); finish area (Zielarena) in Innerwengen
Race Saturday
The downhill on Saturday 16 January draws the biggest crowds. Parking in Wilderswil, Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald is charged and in heavy demand, and the organisers advise coming early and by public transport. Check the start times with the organisers before fixing the departure.
January roads
From Zürich Airport, Lauterbrunnen is about 142 km, around two hours in light traffic. EuroAirport is about 168 km and Genève Aéroport about 223 km. Expect narrow, winding valley roads, often with snow or black ice.
Swiss law sets no date for winter tyres. Snow chains become compulsory wherever the chain sign is shown, and the operator plans for that.
What organisers ask us
Can the coach take us all the way to Wengen?
No road leads to Wengen. The coach stops in the valley and the group continues by train or cableway.
Our group is in the Valais. Can the coach use the Lötschberg car train?
Not a full-size coach. The car train takes buses with at most 22 seats. In January a big coach goes round by motorway via Lausanne and Bern, because the Grimsel pass is closed in winter.
Do spectators need separate train tickets?
Not from Interlaken Ost, because every race ticket includes the train from there. For other starting points, ask the organisers.
