Art Basel 2027: Coaches and Cars for Groups
The 2027 show is on 17 to 20 June, at Messe Basel on the Messeplatz. No coach plan for the show has been published yet, so the stops are agreed with the venue. If your programme adds a museum or a dinner in town, plan those stops at the same time.
At the Messe
Messe Basel stands in Kleinbasel, across the Rhine from the old town, and its coach parking is limited. At some fairs coaches can be booked in ahead, between 08:00 and 19:00, and are sent to other places once the Messe's own are taken. For Art Basel 2027 nothing has been published, so the operator confirms the stop with the venue.
Near the Messe, at the Badischer Bahnhof, the canton has an official set-down point on Schwarzwaldallee 225: five spaces, 30 minutes at most. The city's other coach places are free but cannot be reserved.
Evenings in the old town
The centre of Grossbasel is a car-free core. A coach that picks up or drops off a group there needs a short-term permit from the canton, issued online and tied to the number plate. Send us the restaurant address early so the operator can apply.
For eight passengers or fewer a car with driver is enough. From nine passengers the group needs a minibus or larger.

A second stop in Riehen
In Riehen, the Fondation Beyeler offers coach spaces at Baselstrasse 101, which makes it an easy addition to a fair day. Museum Tinguely has no parking of its own, so a coach there uses the city's coach places.
Getting to Basel
EuroAirport to the Messe: about 11 km, some 17 minutes in light traffic. Zürich Airport is about 86 km, roughly 1 h 05 min. From Genève Aéroport allow close to three hours for about 249 km.
What organisers ask us
Can we reserve coach parking at the Messe for Art Basel?
Not yet. Messe Basel takes coach reservations for some fairs but has not said whether it will for Art Basel 2027. The operator asks the venue once the arrangement is out.
Our group lands at EuroAirport. Which exit do we take?
The Swiss exit. The airport lies in France. The coach drives out from Basel on the customs road and stays on the Swiss side, because it cannot cross to the French sector.
Can a coach from Germany shuttle us between the hotel and the fair?
No. A shuttle within Basel is carriage inside Switzerland, which an operator from the EU may not provide. That coach may still bring the group to Basel from Germany. For the shuttles we book a Swiss-based coach.
